Q: How do you turn off keyboard clicks?
A: When you bring up the keyboard, tapping the bottom right key (advanced settings) will pop-up the Input options screen.  There you can choose to go into the keyboard settings.

Q:Are there still issues with the Monarch OS or have they been fixed?
A: The first OTA (Over-the-Air) update 1.9.16 was released on August 6, 2012. This update included the following enhancements, additions and fixes:
  • Improved stability of the Monarch OS.
  • Smoother video streaming with an update to the Adobe Flash Player.

Q: How do I get video chat to work on Skype?
A: First, make sure you have enabled video chat in settings by clicking on the three boxes in the top right of the Skype screen and choose settings. Scroll down and make sure enable video chat is checked. Then, make sure the person calling and the person answering select video call, not regular phone call (on the nabi, answer with the green video button, not the green phone button).

Q: How much of the listed 8GB of storage is actually available?
A:  The total available storage on the nabi 2 Tablet is 4.49GB.  The tablet does start with 8GB of storage, but 1GB is used for the Android OS, another 1.5GB is used for Factory Reset data and finally 990MB is used for all of the pre-loaded apps, music and video files.  This is pretty much in-line with the Google Nexus 7 which comes with 5.9GB of total available space, but does not include all of the pre-loaded content.

Q: Do you have to subscribe to Fooz Kids University now?  I thought it was FREE!
A: Fooz Kids University on the nabi is still FREE. Yes, it pops up with a 30-Day Trial message when first launched, but Fuhu is keeping it FREE until more content is added. The Fooz Kids Math content that is and was free on the original nabi Tablet, will always be FREE. The N-SITE, online reports service, that were previously charged for will continue to be a charged service. With the nabi 2 Tablet, Fuhu has added more content across different subject areas, including Science, English, and Social Studies. Although the pop-up says a 30-Day Trial, no one has been charged, and the 30 days is not set to expire anytime in the near future. Will you be charged for it eventually? That depends on how much more content is added and whether Fuhu believes it is worthy of a subscription...but as of right now it's FREE.

Q: What is the manufacturer`s warranty for the nabi 2 Tablet?
A: Warranty: Fuhu warrants product for the period of one (1) year from the date of original retail purchase. If you discover a defect covered by this warranty, we will repair or replace the product at our option using new or refurbished components with reasonable time during the warranty period. Shipping cost, insurance or transportation charges from you to Fuhu or any import fees duties and taxes will not be covered.

Exclusions and Limitations: This warranty does not cover defects resulting from improper or unreasonable use or maintenance, failure to follow operating instructions, accidents, excess moisture, insects, lightning, power surges, connections to improper voltage supply, unauthorized alteration or modification of original condition.

Q: Where is Google Play?  How do I install it?
A. Google's Support Site:
The Android operating system is open source, which means that any device manufacturer is free to use Android on its devices. However, Google Play is an application that is only made available to devices that pass Google’s compatibility requirements. In addition, manufacturers must obtain a license from Google in order to install the Google Play Store app on their devices.
If you don’t have the Google Play Store app, and your device is not listed here, that means your device is not supported for use with Google Play at this time.

Fuhu has been working hard with Google to become certified so that the Google Play Store can be installed through a future OTA update.

In the meantime, this my blog provides a number of options for sideloading apps from another Google certified Android device that you may own.  Check-out AirDroid is a Slamdunk! and Backing up with Google Drive!

Alternatively, there is a way to root the nabi 2 Tablet and install Google Apps including the Google Play Store.  *** Rooting voids your manufacturer's warranty. ***  It is not recommended, unless you are familiar with doing it on other Android devices.  Remember you are playing with your child's tablet, not your own.  If you are interested, this post on XDA Developers will guide you through the process.

Why Can't i install or move any apps to the external sd card.

Android OS 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) removed this functionality.

please can someone advise when the Nabi2 kid's tablet will actually be released for sale in the uk as i have been checking online every other day.
Any updates on when Tesco and Argos intend to start sales yet?

Can you send and receive texts with the Nabi2?

There are apps that appear to let you text on tablets, though I haven't tried any. You also need to be somehow connected to your phone, so you'd just be getting a larger viewing and typing surface.

Tablet Talk, Sync SMS, TexTab are some apps to look up.

I don't have an Android phone. Do these apps that allow me to text on the Nabi2 require an Android phone?

We live in the country and have what I would consider low speed internet (although they call it high speed). I read alot of the nabi apps are streamed. Would this product be usable with a low speed internet connection or are most of the apps streaming? Also, how many apps are functional off-line (for when we are at the cottage!). Thanks!

I read that it will be released at tesco uk on 26th October. If this actually happens is beyond me but I'm sure it will be released in time for christmas.
Linda

How do I change the storage settings to transfer files onto the Nabi 2 SD card? I can't seem to transfer movies from PC onto the Nabi 2.
Thanks!

For all of the people wondering about release dates in the UK, Ive just ordered one today from Smyths Toystore for £149.99. There is, as yet, still no sign of it in Argos or Tesco.

I ordered one yesterday at Smyths toy store also

When you (I) have Five kids and buy Five Devices, do I have to buy five licenses for each app that I wish to install on ALL Five?

No you just have to sign in using the same user account. You can then install apps on whatever devices you want. To customize the Fooz Kids app content, check-out the Fooz Kids pull down at the top of the blog.

I am still looking for an answer to my question...bought a Nabi2 for a Christmas present for our non verbal child. I wish i was told before we bought it that Amazon apps are not available in Canada...plus GooglePlay.
All the autism apps I wanted are on Google Play and Amazon. And on the website it did state that the apps could be purchased on Google Play...confused.
Called customer service, they told me google play is available if really needed...?? What does this mean?
I love the tablet but at this point it is not going to work for communication and other well known apps.

Any advice would be great! I have not came across anyone who says they got Google play installed, but yet I am tolls by the company it is possible by going to Facebook and watching videos.

Thanks!

You'd be able to download and install the Amazon.it App Shop and Kindle App which would provide access to Italian books and other apps.

i am in ireland and my sister who lives in us wants to purchase the nabi2 for my son..will we be able to access everything on it as if we bought it here!

It would be best if you bought it through an Irish retailer, as there are regional differences.

What kind of micro SD card can you use with the Nabi2 to add extra memory or store movies, etc.?

The "Post-Launch Nabi 2 Tablet FAQs" say that the tablet will be released by the end of the year in Italy. Anyone know when or where or what retailer ? I haven't seen any sign of availability or information here yet (Venice area).

FAQ:What kind of MicroSD card is compatible with nabi?

nabi is compatible with any MicroSD card up to 32GB in the SDHC format. nabi is not compatible with MicroSD cards in the SDXC format.

Unfortunately, I haven't heard of any news about any further distribution before Christmas. They were hoping to obviously, but I believe they discovered signing up the right distributors and getting them on the same page is a bit more complex and difficult than first thought.

I live in Norway. Where can I buy Nabi 2 from? I can't find any online store that can deliver to Norway.

Hi, what video format should I convert my movies and videos to watch on the Nabi using a SD card? Thanks

I was wondering how to access Amazon Prime streaming video with my Nabi. Thanks :)

You may be able to stream Amazon Prime video through one of the available web browsers, however Amazon has not released the Android app for use other than on the Kindle Fire tablet line.

MP4 format seems to work best.
Search for Movies at the top of the blog and select Going to the Movies!

As Fuhu has yet to expand its distribution to Scandinavia, I'd highly recommend not trying to purchase one elsewhere, but wait until they are available in your region. While it would work, you'd be somewhat limited in certain aspects.

Is there a way to change the lock screen image? I have two children and would like to personalize their Nabi a little for them.

Hi Scott, I'm looking to buy a Fuhu Nabi 3 for my 5 year old for Christmas, I see they are now available in the UK, are these units angilicised, or is this a future development. By this I particularly mean tying into the National Curriculum for KS 1 and KS2, as well as English spelling (which he struggles with at the best of times) and the irritating "Mommy". I'm virtually convinced, but this would clinch it, even if it would be a (hopefully not to distant) future download.

For now you should be able to customize the Fooz Kids Website app to point to the http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks1 or http://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/ks2.

I'm sure Fuhu would love to partner with a company that could provide them with standardized UK & IE curriculum, but as they are still basically in launch phase, it may take some time for them to focus back on these regional requests.

If you go into Daddy Mode > Settings > Display > Wallpaper you can customize the wallpaper for Daddy Mode.

Next you will want to change your Security settings.
Daddy Mode > Settings > Security > Screen Lock. Choosing Pattern, PIN or Password will allow the select wallpaper to be display on the lock screen.

Since Google Play isn't supported on the Nabi 2, does that mean that I can't load Google music, books, etc? How about Netflix?

Not at all! Check out some of my other posts that cover installing Netflix and all of the Google Apps.

Ive downloaded games to my sons Nabi and the internal storage has been used up. Now i cant download any more because it wont put the file on the installed sdhc card... The instructions say it will use the sdhc for files once the internal is full. Why wont it download onto the external memory? Thanks for any replies

I've been researching Nabi vs. the Kindle Fire HD for 4 year-olds. The Kindle looks more attractive with it's 'Kindle FreeTime Unlimited' all in one subscription, allowing access to all Amazon content. Does the Nabi have anything comparable?

Android 4.0 and higher no longer supports Move2SD functionality for apps. The Micro SD Card is to be used to store media files such as ebooks, movies, music and photos.

First I'd recommend going through the apps installed on the tablet and uninstalling ones that your child doesn't use or probably won't use. This will free up some memory. Next what I do is install only a few of the larger ones that I know my son is going to love and hold back on some others. Once he's done playing with those or has gotten bored of them I uninstall them and have some new ones to replace them with. Just because you purchase something from an appstore doesn't mean it needs to be installed. The apps will always be linked to your account for future downloads.

A very small app that I'd highly recommend installing is AppUsage it allows you to see what is being used and for how long. This will show you what you can uninstall or what is no longer being enjoyed. It is available in the Everything Nabi - App Zone.

So Kindle Fire HD requires a subscription, where as nabi 2 Tablet offers everything with a couple of optional subscriptions (Spinlets TV and N-Site). Nabi 2 Tablet has better hardware specs and has been rated the best Kid Tablet by Consumer Reports. Fuhu is focused on developing products for kids and parents, while Amazon is focused on making money through Subscriptions.

The Nabi has limited content though, and will also rely on subscriptions, correct??

has anyone posted problems with the touch screen on their Nabi 2? I seem to have problems with getting things to open tapping the screen-especially anything internet based. For example-I have gone to FoozKids to add YouTube videos (which I haven't been able to do as yet)onto my son's Nabi. It took forever (and many taps)to just get Videos to open. From there it took MANY taps to get a particular video to preview. Once it did, I could not get it to add. I recalibrated the devise, but that didn't help. Any suggestions?

You should be using a computer to customize the Fooz Kids apps, as the interface is not really designed for mobile devices.

The screen is recalibrated internally whenever the device is started, there is no other way to do it, as there was with the original tablet.

I tried using the computer to add the videos and it didn't work. They would add on the COMPUTER, but didn't sync to the Nabi. And yes, I have my Nabi Sync in place. Plus someone at nabicare told me it would be best to add the videos through my Nabi anyhow.

So my biggest question is...WHY won't things open when I touch the screen???

First off the Fooz Kids app configuration has nothing to do with the nabi Sync program which are completely unrelated.

As for the screen have you performed the latest OTA updates to get to v1.9.37?

You're more than welcome to post or message me via my Facebook page, which is linked at the top of the blog.

Sorry, I am pretty much computer illiterate (if you can't tell!) I thought the nabi Sync program had to be in place to get the videos from the Fooz Kids on the computer to the nabi. If not, then why are they added on my Fooz kids computer account but they are not on the nabi when I get on Fooz Kids there?

Yes, I performed the latest update and have that one.

Do you think there is a problem with my Nabi since the touchscreen does not want to open things?

When will my preordered accessories ship? I am waiting in the kickstand and case.

has had issues with Skype on the nabi 2? we cant seem to make video calls on it.

Is there an app I can download where I can purchase movies one movie at a time, rather than having to pay a monthly fee like Netflix?

i purchased the nabi 2 for my son and i downloaded Netflix from the Appstore but it won't load. Every time i try to open it, i get "Netflix is trying to connect to the available network (13007). I have full internet connectivity and can browse but Netflix won't open. Help...am i missing something??

I'm trying to sign up my daughter's nabi2 and when I enter the billing address it tells me to put in the state/region, but it won't let me click on it. It won't let me off that screen until I put it in. It just says Please wait while loading. It's been loading for about an hour. Please help! Thanks

I am experiencing the same issue with the state and country forms not coming up in the billing address section of the sign up. when I try to skip it, I am told there is no connection to the internet. Stuck :-( was hoping to find similar issues here with some advice. I tried the factory reset already to see if it was a software issue.

Can I reset Nabi 2 ? My Dad password will not allow me into Dad's zone.

I just got a Nabi for my 9 year old and I'm trying to reset it but it won't reset. I'm really frustrated! How long do you have to hold down those buttons? Nothing happens.

Can you get mobile internet for the nabi 2?

The tablet only offers wifi, however if you have a smartphone and your data plan offers the ability to run a hotspot from it, you can connect to the internet through the phone, when you are on a road trip, etc.

No. If you purchased an extended warranty through the retailer then it should be but it is not covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

You can order a replacement tablet by completing the form available in the "Get a Replacement" app on the nabi Tablet Facebook page.

If you check under the nabi 2 tab at the top of the page, you'll find a link to the latest OTA update for the nabi 2 Nickelodeon Edition tablet which includes some additional apps.

The tablet requires approximately 10-15% of the entire storage space for operating the OS and allowing apps to function properly. When you begin encroaching on that limit or exceeding it, then you'll receive this message when trying to install more apps. Since it is a fairly small file you could try a reboot to see if that will clear enough cache to allow the app to be installed.

I believe the Avia Media Player and Mobo Player both available for free in the Amazon Appstore provide the locking feature you are looking for.

Engineering is aware of the Wings issue and is looking to address it. Once they have a fix they will either push it out or make it available through an OTA update.

Thankypou...I hope that they are able to fix it soon...I swear it pops up more and more each day

Movies purchased through iTunes are meant for Apple products running iOS, not the Android OS. Also most if not all purchases through iTunes have DRM restrictions preventing the files from being converted and used on other devices.

I lost my temporary password the one that was factory how can i get it back and set controls on my daughters nabi2 disney edition

Keep receiving pop up message "Unfortunately, Wings Challenge is not working". Thought it was because we had not subscribed to it,even though it would pop up just when turning on the Nabi. Tonight I was downloading different segments and it continued to give the message during each download. Is there something we can do to stop this from happening?

You can make phone calls from your android tablet/ipad (without sim card) using voip app. I use Smartgroshen app, simple, good quality of voice and sync with your phone contacts
